Regular Meeting of the City Council was July 8th, 2024, at 5:00 pm with Mayor Bunt presiding. Council members present: Ebert, Jenness, Edwards, Schmillen. Absent, Whited.
Pledge of Allegiance
Motion by Jenness, seconded by Ebert to approve Consent Agenda: City Council Minutes, Bills, Res #24-26, “Resolution Approving Sublease for Kim Means at Marcus Golf Course”, Res #24-27 “Transfer of Funds”, 5k Permit, Fair Parade, Fair Lease, MAC Street Dance Liquor License, MAC Street Dance, Application for Marcus Signage Incentive Grant Program for Brady Law Firm. Ayes: Ebert, Jenness, Schmillen, Edwards. Nayes: none. Motion carried.
Request from Cory Hawkins, The Hawkeye Lounge to have the back alley of Hawkeye closed off for Marcus Fair and to have tent selling cotton candy in front of Hawkeye during the days of the Fair.
Motion by Schmillen, seconded by Ebert to approve recommendations of 5-year appointments to Planning & Zoning – Bill Sillau and Board of Adjustments – Doug Dreckman, Zoning Commissioner. Ayes: all. Nayes: none. Motion carried.
Motion by Schmillen, seconded Ebert to approve The Hawkeye Lounge outdoor request. Ayes: all. Nayes: none. Motion carried.
Motion by Schmillen, seconded by Ebert to approve Kenny Ogren donating fence and installation around AC units at the Clubhouse at no cost to the City. Ayes: all. Nayes: none. Motion carried.
Motion by Ebert, seconded by Jenness to approve increasing ICAP deductible to $2,500. Ayes: all. Nayes: none. Motion carried.
Motion by Ebert, seconded by Jenness to approve quote of $4,621.34 material and labor from Deere Valley for sewer replacement valve over Schmillen Construction $10,000 material and labor. Ayes: Ebert, Jenness, Edwards. Nayes: none. Abstain: Schmillen
Options for planting trees in the right-of-way were reviewed. Motion by Schmillen, seconded by Edwards to approve having Dave Christensen enforce trees not in compliance with tree code. Ayes: all. Nayes: none. Motion carried.
Second reading of Ordinance 361 died for lack of a motion.
Clerk Harvey let the Council know that McClure is starting paperwork for planning and design loan for the test well and remainder of the loan can go towards water plant. The tornado siren by the Golf Course no longer works and Power Solutions of Alta is working to get a quote on a refurbished siren.
Doug Dreckman gave Public Works update. One of the sewer plant pumps has gone out and will be fixed, a sewer line at the City Park has collapsed and will be fixed this week.
Chief Flikeid gave his monthly activity report.
Mayor Bunt mentioned the trail construction has resumed after bad weather and flooding kept crews away.
