The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 with Rick Mongan, Wane Miller, Gary Lundquist, Bryan Petersen, and Duane Mummert present. There were no representatives from the press. Dave Skou, Cheryl Ellis, Sarah Tracy, Laura Jones, Tom Kohn, Kenny Schlenger and Justin Pritts were also in attendance. Unless otherwise indicated, all votes were offered as follows: Ayes – Lundquist, Petersen, Mummert, Miller, Mongan; Nayes – none; Abstentions – none.
Chairman Mongan called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Wane Miller, Veteran Affairs Commissioner.
Motion by Miller, seconded by Lundquist to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Petersen, seconded by Mummert to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Miller to approve the claims for payment as presented. Motion carried. A complete listing is available for review in the County Auditor’s office and online.

Dick Sievers, Mid Sioux Opportunity, gave an informative review of services offered to area residents and reported that 1,564 individuals and 684 households received services in Cherokee County. Mid Sioux’s $9,000 budget request for 2023/2024 is the same as it has been for the past several years. The request will be considered during the budget process.
Motion by Lundquist, seconded by Miller to approve a $8,682.50 stipend to Stu Hogg, IT Director, for additional time and services provided for the Courthouse HVAC Retrofit project. Motion carried.
Motion by Miller, seconded by Mummert to approve carryover of 17.75 vacation hours for Kelly Ebel due to his inability to use them before his anniversary date which occurred during the courthouse relocation project. Motion carried.
The supervisors provided committee reports and reviewed meeting schedules. Lundquist summarized his eight years serving on the board stating: “I want to thank the people of Cherokee County for giving me this opportunity to be a supervisor.”
Mongan called for comments from the public. Sarah Tracy, County Engineer, reported that her department is working on the FY24 budget and needs input about what construction projects to include.
There being no further business, Chairman Mongan called for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Motion by Lundquist, seconded by Miller to adjourn the meeting at 10:03 a.m.
