MMCRU High School Choir Pops Concert
by Elaine Rassel
Due to COVID-19, schools had not been able to have their concerts, plays, inside sports, etc. open to anyone. Some of their presentations have been “virtual” where we could be at home and enjoy the presentations. However, it was Monday, March 8 that the MMCRU High School Choir presented their Pops Concert “live” in the RU Auditorium with Mr. Andrew Wotherspoon directing! Even though masks and social distancing were still required, it was a treat to see a performance live!
They opened up the event with Auditioned Acts. The Star Spangled Banner was sung by Alissah Popema. Other Auditioned Acts included “Time Adventure” sung by Aiyana Murray; “All I Want” sung by Isabella Ahlers; Jacob Johnson sang “Two Broken People”; Driver’s License was sung by Hope Russell and the concluding was “Burn” sung by Savannah Johnson.
The High School Choir took to the risers with a selection, “He Lives in You” from the Lion King. The audience was treated with sunshine absent from our gloomy day when the Choir sang, “I Make My Own Sunshine”.
The Choir closed their Pops Concert with a selection from Frozen II_”Into the Unknown”.
MMCRU High School Choir members are the following: Isabella Ahlers, Jordyn Holsinger, Jacob Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Aiyana Murray, Caitlin Olson, Ryan Olson, and Elizabeth Pedersen.
Other Choir members are Andrea Penning, Alissah Poppema, Emily Rains, Victoria Rojas, Hope Russell, Zachery Sanow, Blaine Wicks, Jaxon Woodall and Mykin Youde.
Congratulations on your performance. We will be looking forward to your High School Spring Concert in Marcus on April 29.
