Wolverine Boys Fall to Hawks on Hardwood
The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Hawks hosted the South O’Brien Wolverines on Tuesday December 16. Going into the 4th period it was the Wolverines game to lose, leading throughout the game. They went into the final quarter with a 38-33 lead. The Hawks outscored the Wolverings 22-11 in that period/ Ot was enough for a 6-point Hawks win.
HMS scoring was led by senior Isaac Schierholz with 24., Sophomore Jackson Vogt droped in 13 points and senior Lawton Schiphoff contributed 9. Schierholz rebounded 6, 2 offensive and is credited with 1 steal along with Schiphoff. Schiphoff also grabbed 5 boards. Caden Douma, sophomore joined in with 3 boards, 1 offensive and a steal.
Wolverine production leaders were senior Gabe Moermond, 19 points, senior Jaden Kreber, 13 points and senior Alex Griebel with 6 points. Kreber led possession effort with 6 boards and 2 steals. Senior Brady Riedemann took 5 boards and a pair of steals. Moermond leaped for 4 boards, 1 offensive and a steal.
Wolverine Beat the Rams at Bomgaars Invite
The Wolverines held MVAOCOU (Maple Valley-Anthon Oto-Charter Oak Ute) to single digits in both periods of the first half while putting 17 points in each quarter on the board. The Wolverines enjoyed a halftime 34-17 lead.
The Rams fared better during the second half. They matched the Wolverines’ scoring 13-12 both teams, both periods. The effort brought a game final of 59-42.
Wolverine top scorers are Jaden Kreber, 18; Gabe Moermond, 14 and Brody Van Beek, 8. MVAOCOU scoring leaders were Kael Collins, 16; Jake Scott, 13 and Joey Kotthan 10.
