Royals Over Wolverines at Paullina

The Wolverine home boys’ basketball game on Tuesday December 9 broke in favor of the visiting Royals after the first period. The game was knotted at 20 each at the first period buzzer. The point spread opened in the second period with some closing of the point gap after the break.
Quarter scores were 20 each, 21-4, 17-11 and 21-6, giving a final score of 79-41.
Leading South O’Brien offense from senior Gabe Moermond scoring 16 points, senior Jaden Kreber with 8 points and senior Austin Negus with 6 points. Moermond led the Wolverine possession battle. He grabbed 7 rebounds with 2 being offensive boards and a steal. Kreber grabbed 6 boards with 2 being offenseive. He also marked a steal. Senior Brody Van Beek took down 5 rebounds also with 2 offensive.
Leading Royals’ scorers were senior Wyatt Alesch with 20 points. He hit 75% of his field goal attempts and 66% of his 3 point efforts. Senior Kamden Bork scored 14 points including 4 of 6 3 point attempts. Junior Josh Peterson followed up the scoring top 3 with 10 points hitting 4 of 6 3-point efforts. Junior Eli Harpenau took 6 rebounds with 2 second chance grabs and a steal. Peterson marked 4 rebounds for himself with 1 offensive. He also marked a blocked shot and 3 steals. Alesch too 2 rebounds, a block and 7 steals.
