MMCRU wrestlers Gage Johnson, 138 lbs and Parker Glassmaker, 144 lbs. earned a spot in the Iowa State High School Wrestling Tournament. Johnson placed second at the District. He went to the state tournament seeded in the 21st spot. Johnson faced some buzz saws at Des Moines. He was edged out in his opening match to Jax Tommasin of Starmont 7-8. He had a second round bye. Johnson’s third round matched him in the Consolation round agains Kinnick Munson of Odgen. Johnson came away with 4 points to Munson’s 7. Johnson’s final performance on the mat was against Ryker VanDen Huevel of Sigourney-Keota. Johnson suffered another heartbreaker falling 11-12.
Glassmaker won the District title. His championship seeded him at #3 and he enjoyed a first round bye. Glassmaker’s first matchup put him against Lisbon’s Jackson Knapp. Knapp was able to get a move on Glassmaker giving him the win with a 7-9 score. Austin Wagner of Panorama fell to the #3 seed 12-0 in the third round. Glassmaker’s final match was against Charlie Christensen of ACGC who moved on winning with a 3-13 score over Glassmaker.
