Emmetsburg E’Hawks Crush Wolverines

The Lady E’Hawks played in Paullina on Saturday February 7. It was a rough event for the host South O’Brien Wolverines. The E’Hawks took off in the opening period and didn’t let up. Final buzzer score was 59-34 for the visitors.
Emmetsburg’s senior Rachel Schany lead the team’s performance in all measures. She scored 23, and rebounded half of her 8 overall grabs at both baskets. She blocked 2 and stole 7. Junior Dylan Fience followed with 17 points, 5 rebounds, all for a second chance and stole 3. Senior Kylie Hoffman scored 5. Senior Calista Joyce grabbed 4 misses and stole 2.
Wolverines’ senior Lindsey Einck topped the Wolverine scoreboard with 22 points. She took down 7 misses with 4 re-dos. Senior Reese Farquhar scored 18 points with a huge 5 outside scores for 15 of those points. She also took down 5 misses, blocked 1 and stole 2. Senior Addison Hedberg shot a wopping 12 out of 13 points from outside. Junior BreLee Rasmussen wsa a power house under the baskets. She took 12 misses overall with 3 being offensive.

Statement Defeat Over Boyden Hull

No quarter scores of Boyden Hull stats are available at press time. South O’Brien outscored the Rockets 71-52 on Thursday February 12.
Lindsey Einck, Wolverine senior put im 24 points. She was a big support under the baskets with 7 recoveries, 4 of them for a second chance. Senior Reese Farquhar drilled 21 points with a record-tieing performance. She hit 6 successful outside shots for 18 points. Farquhar was also strong under the baskets. She grabbed 5 with 1 offensive, a blocked shot amd 2 steals.
Senior Addison Hedberg added 15 poimts with 12 big points from outside. Junior Bre Lee Rasmussen topped the Wolverine rebounding effort with 12, 3 offensive.
This was the Wolerine girls first post-season win in 5 years.

Wolverines Defeat E’Hawks

The E-Hawks of Emmetsburg spent Saturday in Paullina trying to overcome a first half deficit. The Wolverines opened a first period lead 20-14. The pushed the spread more in the second stanza with a 16-11 quarter score. Halftime score was 36-26 Wolverines. Second half play saw the E’Hawks keep up with the Wolverines, but they gained no ground. Game final was 70-59 Wolverines.
Emmetsburg game leaders in scoring were senior Cooper Chizek with 17 points. He tossed in an impressive 15 points from downtown. Sophomore JM Bay hit for 10 points, 6 from downtown and freshman Carter Chizek scored 10, 4 from the circle.
Senor Matthew Malm claimed to rebounding for the guests with 7 and 3. Tyce Jenness, senior grabbed 3 boards with 1 second chance. Cooper Chizek pulled down half of his 2 rebounds from each basket and stole 2.
The Wolverines’ scoring leader was senior Jaden Kreber. He hit for 30 points. Senior Gabe Moermond added 13 points and senor Brady Riedemann put in 10 points. Moermond pulled 6 rebounds, half from under each basket. He stole 4. Kreber’s presence was also felt under the boards. He claimed 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Senor Brody Van Beek took 4 boards.
