Friends of the Marcus Public Library Host Annual “Build Your Own Animal” Event

Each year, the Friends of the Marcus Public Library (FOL), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the library in various ways, hosts a highly anticipated event. This year, they brought back their popular “Build Your Own Animal” program, which brings joy and creativity to both kids and adults. Last year, the event featured all kinds of bears, similar to the Build-A-Bear workshops at local malls. This year, however, the focus shifted to farm animals, adding a fresh twist to this beloved tradition.
The event is always filled with fun, laughter, and, of course, plenty of fluffy, squishy new friends. Each child gets to create and take home their very own animal, complete with a birth certificate and a name of their choosing. It’s always a delight to see how creative the kids are with their animal names — their imaginations never fail to impress!
Now in its second year, this program is made possible by the generous donations from the community. The FOL hopes to make this event an annual tradition, bringing joy to families for years to come.
If you’d like to support events like this, as well as other programs for both children and adults, you can make a donation to the Friends of the Library. Checks can be mailed to: Friends of the Library, PO Box 205.
And here’s the best part: the “Build Your Own Animal” program isn’t just for kids! Adults are welcome to join in the fun as well. Whether you have a love for farm animals, bears, or whatever animal is chosen for next year, there’s plenty of room for you to get creative. While we ask adults to cover the cost of their animal creations, it’s still likely cheaper than adopting a real-life animal — and much easier to snuggle up with at night!
