With much anticipation, the children of Marcus were excited to visit the Marcus Public Library for its biggest program of the summer: Bubbles, Bubbles, and More Bubbles! However, unbeknownst to everyone, Mr. Bubble Man was encountering road closure after road closure due to the aftereffects of the devastating floods. Although he was only 25 miles away, he would not be able to make it to his program in Marcus on time. With a heavy heart, he called the library to let them know.

At this point, the library had 15 minutes before show time and no bubbles. What were they to do? But the Director, the Friends of the Library, and parents who were already arriving quickly jumped into action. With the help of so many individuals, the children who came looking to play with bubbles not only got to play with bubbles but also with water balloons and sidewalk chalk, and they enjoyed hot dogs and lemonade as well. While the day may not have been as organized or had the huge bubble stations as planned, the giggles and laughter of the children and parents, told everyone they still had an absolutely fantastic time! The library considers that a win and is very thankful for everyone’s help that day.
