The MMCRU FFA Chapter from Marcus competed in the annual Iowa FFA Food Science Career Development Event held at Iowa State University on June 8, 2023. Members of the Bronze place team included: Kaden Neddermeyer, Carson Loutsch, Emma Vasher, and Sophie Hohbach.  FFA teams from 14 chapters participated in this year’s Career Development Event designed to provide the student an opportunity to display their agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of Food Science. The 54 individuals who participated in the event completed several activities including demonstration of skills and problem solving in dealing with consumer concerns, food safety and sanitation, aroma identification, taste testing, and product differences. A written examination was included along with a team product development competition. The Iowa FFA Food Science Career Development Event was coordinated and conducted by Dr. Terri Boylston, and numerous other faculty and staff with the Iowa State University Department of Food Science & Human Nutrition in Ames. The Iowa FFA Food Science Career Development Event was made possible with support through the Iowa FFA Foundation Gold Standard Donors.
