Staff Spotlight – Kyle Oswald

This week’s Staff Spotlight features Kyle Oswald. Kyle is a social studies teacher at MMCRU High School; he teaches various classes such as World History, U.S. Government, Current World Issues, and World Geography.
Oslwald grew up in Allen, Nebraska and attended Wayne State College. His original plan wasn’t to be a teacher, but he felt a pull towards that direction, “I prayed heavily about it and started my first education classes, and the rest, as they say…..is history….see what I did there? History teacher joke.” Oswald has now been teaching for 14 and a half years. He says his favorite thing about teaching is developing relationships with his students and having a positive impact on their lives.
When asked what advice he would give to students, he responded with, “Get involved in as much as you can handle. Don’t overdo it and drive yourself crazy, but don’t do so little that you are wasting your time. Find that balance where you are challenged, but not overburdened.” Something Kyle wishes someone would have told him in high school was that there is life after school, and that experiences (positive and negative) do not set in stone your life’s path.
