2022 Marcus Fair Cooking School
The Marcus Fair Cooking School committee is excited to announce that the 2022 featured cook is Jean Erickson.
Jean and her husband, of 53 years, Kent, live in Marcus. The couple raised four sons and they now have four daughters-in-law and 12 grandchildren. Fitting, that the theme Jean chose for the cooking school is: Meals & Memories Are Made Here.
Jean is a self taught cook. She believes that if you can read, you can cook. When asked what meal she enjoys cooking the most, she responded, “One they’ll eat, oh, and the less clean up the better!”
Not surprising, Jean taught all four of their sons how to cook and is now teaching her grandchildren. The most requested meal the grandchildren want grandma to make is real mashed potatoes and gravy, frozen sweet corn, and roast. (Jean’s roast recipe will be in the 2022 Marcus Fair cookbook.) She also has some delicious recipes that you will be sampling.
Jean was 1994 Co-cook at The Marcus Fair Cooking School. She said she cooks differently now than she did then. Most obvious is now she cooks for two. The food industry has changed significantly and there are more shortcuts to make preparing a meal faster. She’ll be sharing some of these shortcuts with all of you at the cooking school.
The Marcus Fair Cooking School will take place on Sunday, August 14 at noon. Hope to see you there!
