On Thursday, May 5th, the MMCRU Boys Track team traveled to Hawarden for the Falcon Relays. The Royals placed 2nd in the overall team standings with 108 points, behind Gehlen Catholic who won the meet with 148 points.
In the 100 meter dash, Xander Tentinger placed 5th with a 12.31. Gunnar Johnson placed 4th with a time of 23.76. In the 400 meter dash, Brett Staab placed 3rd with a time of 54.78, and Kyler Bork placed 5th with a time of 59.16. Jace Colling placed 2nd in the 800m run with a time of 2:11. In the 1600m run, Kaden Galles placed 1st with a time of 5:03 and Brayden Dirks placed 5th with a time of 5:12. Kaden Galles won the Chet Reinking Memorial 3200m run. Chet was a standout high school distance runner, and became a starter for many track meets at West Sioux. He passed away in a vehicle accident a few months ago, and they named the 3200 meter run at this meet after him. With Kaden winning the race, he received an engraved baton to display the honor.
In the 400m hurdles, Max Stridde placed 2nd with a time of 1:02, and Josh Wetter placed 4th with a time of 1:05. In the shot put, Mitchell Schnepf placed 4th with a throw of 38 feet and 7 inches, and Michael Peterson placed 5th with a throw of 38 feet and 5 inches. Mitchell Schnepf placed 1st with a throw of 131 feet and 2 inches. In the 4x100m relay, MMCRU placed 4th with a time of 48.00. The Royals also placed 4th in the 4×200 relay, with a new school record time of 1:36.51. In the 4x400m relay, the Royals placed 3rd with a time of 3:44.74. MMCRU placed 1st in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:56, which was 27 seconds ahead of the winning time. The Royals placed 4th in the 800 Sprint Medley Relay, with an overall time of 1:47. The Royals placed 2nd in the 1600 Distance Medley Relay with a time of 4:11. The boys placed 4th in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, with a time of 1:12.83.
On Monday, May 9, the Royals Boys and Girls Track team hosted the Jack Foresman Relays. MMCRU placed 3rd with 132 points in the overall team standings, behind Hinton and Gehlen Catholic, who placed 1st with 184 points.
In the 100m dash, Gunnar Johnson placed 3rd with a time of 11.94, and Eban Hicks placed 5th with a time of 12.50. Josh Wetter placed 5th in the 200m dash with a 26.42. Wetter also placed 3rd in the 400m dash with a time of 57.16, and Michael Peterson placed 4th with a time of 58.05. Kyler Bork placed 3rd in the 800m run with a time of 2:16. Kaden Galles and Brayden Dirks placed 1st and 2nd in the 1600m run, with times of 4:58 and 5:05, respectively. Clint Staab placed 3rd in the 3200m run with a time of 12:28. Colin Pick won the 110m Hurdles with a time of 16.82, which set a new school record in the event. Max Stridde won the 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:01.95, which also set a new school record. Lucas Braun placed 5th in the long jump with a jump of 18’5”. Braun and Jace Colling tied for fourth in the high jump with jumps of 5’4”. Mitchell Schnepf placed 4th in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, and 2nd in the discus with a throw of 137 feet.
The Royals placed 3rd in the 4x100m relay with a time of 48.55, and 4th in the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:39.56. MMCRU placed 1st in the 4x400m relay, breaking the school record with a time of 3:37.4. That team was composed of Jace Colling, Xander Tentinger, Kaden Neddermeyer, and Brett Staab. The Royals placed 1st in the Bill Sillau 4x800m relay with a time of 8:59. The 1600 Distance Medley Relay team also placed 1st with a time of 3:47.36. The Shuttle Hurdle placed 3rd with a time of 1:12.77.
