Pictured Above: MMCRU Boys Track gets picture with 1st place trophy after their meet victory at the Royal Coed Relays

On Friday, April 29th, the MMCRU Boys and Girls Track teams hosted the Royals Coed Relays. It was a cold and rainy day, which is not great meet weather, but the boys still managed to win the meet. The MMCRU boys placed 1st in the overall team standings with 171 points total, far ahead of the competition as South O’Brien placed 2nd with 141 points.
The Royals had many medalists that night along with several school records broken. In the 100m dash, Gunnar Johnson placed 1st with a time of 11.45, which is the MMCRU school record. Xander Tentinger placed 5th with a 12.14. In the 200m dash, Johnson came back and won that race with a 23.51, which also broke the school record. Kaden Neddermeyer placed fourth in the 200 with a 24.27. In the 400m dash, Jace Colling placed 4th with a 56.92 and Brett Staab placed 6th with a 57.36. In the 800m run, Owen Alesch placed 1st with a 2:13, and Kyler Bork placed 5th with a 2:27. In the 1600m run, Kaden Galles placed 2nd with a 5:22 and Brayden Dirks placed 3rd with a 5:28. Those two also did well in the 3200m run, with Galles in first with a 10:55, and Dirks placing 3rd with an 11:12. In the 110 Meter High Hurdles, Colin Pick placed 3rd in 17.01, which broke the school record in the event. Also in the 110s, Max Stridde placed 5th with an 18.56. In the 400m Hurdles, Max Stridde placed 3rd with a time of 1:04.26.
In the 4x100m relay, the boys placed 3rd with a time of 48.37. In the 4x200m relay, the Royals placed 1st with a time of 1:41.69. In the 4x400m relay, MMCRU placed 3rd with a time of 3:50. The Royals placed 1st in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:55. In the 1600 Distance Medley Relay, MMCRU placed 2nd with a time of 4:17. In the Long Jump, Lucas Braun placed 2nd with a jump of 18’10”, which is a new school record in the event. Braun also placed third in the high jump with a jump of 5’6”. Mitchell Schnepf placed 1st in both discus and shot put, with throws of 124’9” and 39’7”. Michael Rupp placed 3rd in discus with a throw of 106 feet, and Michael Peterson placed 4th in shot put with a throw of 35 feet.
The Royals came back the next week for the War Eagle Conference Track Meet. It was held on Tuesday, May 3rd, at Hinton. The War Eagle is an extremely talented conference, which makes for a tough battle for the top spots in the meet. The Royals fared well against the talent, as they placed 5th in the overall team standings with 69 points.
In the individual events, places 1-5 earn War Eagle All-Conference Honors, and the Royals had 8 individuals do so. In the 100 meter dash, Gunnar Johnson placed 4th with a time of 11.77. Johnson also placed 4th in the 200 meter dash, clocking in at 23.56. Jace Colling placed 3rd in the 800m run with a time of 2:09. Kaden Galles was the conference champion in the 1600m run, beating the school record with a time of 4:54. Brayden Dirks placed 5th in the 1600 with a 5:09. MMCRU went 1 and 2 in the 3200m run, with Galles as the champion(10:38) and Dirks as the runner-up(10:58). Colin Pick placed 4th in the 110m High Hurdles, with a time of 17.4. Max Stridde earned All-Conference honors in the 400m Hurdles, with a time of 1:02.22. Lucas Braun placed 5th in the Long Jump with a jump of 18’3”. In the shot put, Mitchell Schnepf placed fifth with a throw of 40 feet 5 inches. Schnepf also placed 3rd in the discus with a throw of 128 feet.
In the relay events, the Royals had several All-Conference teams. In the 4x200m relay, the Royals placed 3rd with a time of 1:38.57. The boys also placed 3rd in the 4x400m relay, with a time of 3:40.29. In the 4x800m relay, MMCRU placed 2nd with a time of 8:44, five seconds off of Unity Christian’s winning time. The Royals placed 4th in the 800 Sprint Medley Relay with a time of 1:43. They also placed fourth in the 1600 Distance Medley Relay with a time of 4:04. The Royals placed 3rd in the 4x110m Shuttle Hurdle Relay, with a time of 1:13.24.
The Royals will host another home meet on Monday, May 9th, with the Jack Foresman Relays. They will then head to Lawton on Thursday, May 12th, for the 1A District State Qualifying Meet. Please come out and support the boys track team as they wrap up the season!
