On Thursday, April 21, the MMCRU Boys Track team traveled to Hinton for the Blackhawk Relays. The Royals placed 2nd at Hinton with 125 points behind Gehlen Catholic, who placed 1st with 133 points.
In the 100 meter dash, freshman Xander Tentinger placed 5th with a time of 12.32. In the 200 meter dash, junior Gunnar Johnson placed 3rd overall with a time of 23.55, and also broke the school record by half a second. In the 400 meter dash, senior Brett Staab placed 3rd with a time of 54.62. In the 800 meter run, junior Owen Alesch placed second with a time of 2:11, only .3 seconds off of first. Sophomore Kyler Bork placed 5th with a 2:23. In the 1600 meter run, sophomore Kaden Galles placed second with a time of 5:13, and senior Brayden Dirks placed third with a time of 5:16. Galles and Dirks took silver and bronze medals in the 3200m run, with times of 10:37 and 11:03. In the 110 meter hurdles, senior Colin Pick placed 3rd with a time of 17.98. In the 400 meter hurdles, the Royals had two medalists: juniors Max Stridde and Josh Wetter. Stridde placed 2nd in 1:02, and Wetter placed 5th in 1:06.
MMCRU also placed well in the relay events. In the 4x100m relay, they placed second behind Gehlen with a time of 47.61. In the 4x200m relay, the Royals placed 2nd with a time of 1:37.81. In the 4x400m, MMCRU once again took 2nd with a time of 3:45. MMCRU placed 1st in the 4×800 meter relay, with an overall time of 9 minutes flat. In the 800 Sprint Medley Relay, MMCRU placed 6th with a 1:47. In the 1600 Distance Medley Relay, the Royals placed second with a 4:11. They placed 4th in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay with a time of 1:13.
In the long jump, freshman Lucas Braun broke the school record in the long jump with a jump of 18’3” and placed 4th. In high jump, freshman Jace Colling tied for 3rd with a jump of 5 feet 8 inches. Mitchell Schnepf placed 5th in shot put with a throw of 42 feet. Schnepf placed 2nd in discus with a throw of 121 feet.
On Tuesday, April 26th, the Royals went to the Alta-Aurelia Invitational at Alta. Since MMCRU has had a boys track team, they have never won a track meet as a team, but that changed on Tuesday. The MMCRU Boys team had an incredible accomplishment at this meet, as they placed first in the team standings for the first time in MMCRU history.
In the 100 meter dash, Xander Tentinger placed 4th with a time of 12.27. In the 200m dash, Gunnar Johnson placed 1st with a time of 23.77. In the 400m dash, Brett Staab placed 3rd with a time of 54.53. In the 800m run, Owen Alesch placed 3rd with a time of 2:08. In the 1600m run, MMCRU took first and second with Kaden Galles running a 5:03 and Brayden Dirks running a 5:15. Those two also got 1st and 2nd in the 3200m run, with Galles running a 10:37 and Dirks running a 11:04. In the 110m Hurdles, Colin Pick placed 2nd with a 17.46 and Max Stridde placed 4th with a 19.93. In the 400m hurdles, Stridde placed 3rd with a time of 1:03.
In the 4x100m relay, the Royals tied for 2nd with Alta-Aurelia with a time of 47.35. In the 4x200m relay, MMCRU placed 2nd with a time of 1:36.99, only .16 seconds away from South O’Brien’s winning time. In the 4x400m relay, the Royals got their season best time, which was 3:40, and good for second place. In the 4x800m relay, MMCRU placed 2nd with a time of 8:43. MMCRU placed 4th in the 800 Sprint Medley Relay, with a time of 1:44.59. The Royals placed 2nd with a time of 4:04. In the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, MMCRU placed second with a time of 1:14.17.
The MMCRU Boys Track team will head to Hinton for the War Eagle Conference Track Meet on Monday, May 1st. They will look to continue their success in the team standings, and look for your support at meets!
