State Archery

The MMCRU Archery Team traveled to Des Moines this past weekend to compete in the NASP State 3D Tournament. The 3D team met the required state qualifying score for the fifth year. MMCRU was scheduled to shoot at 4:30 PM on Saturday, March 5th at the Iowa State Fair Grounds. All was going according to plan until the second scoring round for the archers. Five whistles were blown (the emergency signal) and the archers, along with everyone in attendance, were instructed to take shelter in a few rooms due to the location they were in being put under a severe tornado warning. Everyone had to stay in these areas for an hour and a half until the warning was lifted. After the archers were officially cleared to begin shooting, they were able to finish all of their scoring rounds. The team went through plenty of mental distractions that day, yet they were able to shoot a total score that qualified them for nationals. The team is planning to attend nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah at the end of April.
