This week’s Staff Spotlight is Shar Duncan. She is currently teaching physical education at the Marcus location where she has been for the past 14 years. She had taught for a total of 24 years. Shar grew up in Correctionville, Iowa and got her high school education at Eastwood. She later attended Wayne State where she pursued an education in health and physical education. Shar wanted to become a teacher because she wanted the ability to make an impact on students’ lives. Shar enjoys teaching because of the relationship she gains with students and being able to connect with them on a personal level. The best advice Shar has for students is “never be afraid to try something, never be afraid of failure, and never be afraid of what others think. Put yourself first and push yourself”. When she was in high school the advice she wished she would have received is “don’t focus on sports as much but to focus academically instead.”
