Pilot Rock Chapter DAR Good Citizen Award and Scholarship

Pilot Rock Chapter DAR is happy to sponsor the Good Citizen Award and Scholarship contest in our area schools. Only one student per year may be honored as a school’s DAR Good Citizen. The DAR Good Citizen program encourages and rewards the qualities of good citizenship among high school seniors: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. We are very proud to recognize those who were chosen from the 2021 senior class. They are as follows:
Alta-Aurelia-Cade Rohwer, son of Brad and Amy Rohwer,
Cherokee Washington-Elizabeth Ellis, daughter of David and Cheryl Ellis,
MMCRU-Kristina Goth, daughter of Jeff and Ann Goth
Ridgeview-Anya Grace Kistenmacher, daughter of Jim and Kris Kistenmacher
River Valley-Caitlyn Ebert, daughter of Justin and Tiffany Ebert, and
Sioux Central-Michelle Anderson, daughter of Loren and Lisa Anderson.
Each of these students received a monetary award, Good Citizen pin and certificate Their scores, given by three non-DAR judges, are totaled with the highest scoring individual receiving an additional monetary gift and his/her application is advanced to the district chairman. The winners of the 4 districts in the state are then advanced to state, judged, and the top winner at state then being advanced to regional competition and finally a national winner is chosen.
Our candidate from Pilot Rock this year was Kristina Goth of MMCRU. She was also chosen from the district winner and was one of the students presented at the state convention last spring. Unfortunately she was not chosen to advance beyond state.
We are so proud of all of these young people and we feel that our schools and communities share that feeling. They are all now preparing to start college to study for their chosen careers. If you know any of these students, give them a pat on the back and words of encouragement as they continue to display the qualities that have resulted in them being chosen the DAR Good Citizen from their school.
