Picturesque’ Wall Determined
by Elaine Rassel
Due to a mistake in sending the wrong City Council agenda to the Marcus News, I was not at the meeting, but am reporting on what I was able to find.
There was a Public Hearing (one of two Public Hearings) on “Proposal Approving Proposed Restrictive Sale of Abandoned Property at 313 N. Main Street in the City of Marcus” (Resolution #21-23). This is the building last used by Hogue Jewelry and owned by a Jacobson. The building is north of the small park in this area. The south wall of the building has a picturesque’ painting on it.
MEDCO’s representative, Kyle Wester came before the Council with MEDCO’s proposal to demolish the building and build a three-suite office building. There were no objections or other proposals so Public Hearing was closed. Resolution #21-23 was approved by the Council.
The sale of the lot along Eagle Avenue and Progressive Drive (Resolution #21-19) “Resolution Approving Proposed Sale of Real Estate Along Eagle Avenue and Progressive Drive in the City of Marcus, Iowa was approved by the Council. Mid-American representative, Colby Hannasch spoke to the Council on what Mid American was going to do with this lot. They are building a maintenance shop that will be for the Plymouth County wind turbines.
There will be a Public Hearing on the sale of City property (across from Post Office) to United Bank of Iowa.
The swimming pool will be opened this year! No wages for helpers were given.
If you have any HAZARDOUS WASTE (things that cannot be put out for recycling or garbage or clean-up day) you can make an appointment by calling City Hall to get rid of these at the City Shop on West Cedar Street. This will be only ONE day WEDNESDAY, MAY 19.
