Sophomores Attend Career Day
By Blaine Wicks
MMCRU hosted the O’Brien County Career Day with a panelist discussion. Typically this event involves a field trip to tour various businesses in O”Brien County, but due to covid we went with a panelist discussion of Q&A this year. The panel includes representatives from Mercy One Hospital, Agrivision, Roosenboom, and CFE. Each representative talked about their career and business and then took questions from the sophomores. Mrs. Schroeder said, “The goal of this event is to educate students on local jobs to promote staying local within your career.”
Tucker Reiter said, “Even though we didn’t have a trip for career day we still got to have people come and talk about their jobs. I was focused on architecture, because of my potential with being in a shop program. It was meaningful to me because it was a job that interested me. But I didn’t know the half of it.”
Byrce Staab said, “Talking with these people about their jobs was nice, but this was a decent change of pace. I was really hoping to go on a field trip, but at least we got out of class for an hour; it was cool.”
