MMCRU High School Holds Pops Concert
By Victoria Rojas
The MMCRU High School choir had a concert on March 8 in Remsen at the middle school auditorium. The high school choir sang three songs and had six soloists.
Songs performed included “He Lives in You,” “I Make My Own Sunshine,” and “Into the Unknown.”
Soloist included Alyssah Popemma singing “Star Spangled Banner,” Aiyana Murry singing “Time Adventure,” Isabella Allhers performing “All I Want,” Jacob Johnson with “Two Broken People,” Hope Russel singing “Driver’s License,” and Savannah Johnson singing “Burn.”
I talked to the vocal director Mr. Wotherspoon and he said that doing the concert face to face didn’t feel any different because we were so used to virtually performing. It was nice to have to have a crowd cheering for us and not just having a camera. Wotherspoon said that the concert went great and that he is very proud of how the students did. He said one of his most favorite songs was “ He Lives in You” because of the interplay between English and the African language. He said that he chose the songs by giving the students a list and letting them pick two while he picked what he really liked. He has a running list of song ideas for the future concerts and he is always looking for new things. Wotherspoon always likes to have a variety of songs in every concert so everyone can find something that they really like.
Mr. Wotherspoon was pleased with how well the concert went and that he thinks “Into the Unknown” was a crowd pleaser. Wotherspoon replied with, “Great job everyone! I’m proud of your accomplishments and I’m looking forward to getting started on the spring concert music.”
