Another Home Victory

North Union Warriors never outscored the Royals on Thursday February 20. They did stay in striking range of the Royals through the first half. The relentless defense and fast pace of the MMCRU Royals wore down North Union. MMCRU held a slim 4-point margin after the first quarter, 14-10. North Union again scored closely to the Royals in the second quarter, 18-21, ending the first half with a deficit score of 28 the Royals’ 35.
MMCRU picked up the scoring spread in the second half, outscoring the visitors by 8 points and 7 points respectively. Every score helps. The Royals ended the game with a resounding 71-49 victory.
Junior Wyatt Alesch led the Thursday evening scoring with 26 points to his credit, 9 points from outside. Senor Michael Peterson put up 20 points and Junior Brayson Mulder added 18 with 12 points coming from outside the circle.
Offensive rebounds proved to be a powerful tool Thursday. Senior Jace Colling made his presence known under the baskets, half of them offensive, and marked 10 rebounds. Peterson grabbed 8 boards, 3 from the offensive side. Junior Kamden Bork grabbed 4.
Senior Jace Colling recorded 5 assists. Junior Michael Schmillen had 5 and Alesch made 3 shots possible.
MMCRU traveled to Sioux Central (Sioux Rapids) on Tuesday February 25 to take on Newell-Fonda in the District Championship game. Tip off was at 7:00pm.
