More Marcus Fair
By Dallas Carey
Every year, the Marcus Fair—more recently dubbed the Marcus ‘State Fair’—rolls around, marking the highlight of summer for our small community. It unofficially signals the end of the season and gets parents starting to think about school supplies with a mix of dread and relief.
The Marcus Fair has it all: games that test your skill and patience, food that’s probably a year’s worth of calories in one bite, races that get your adrenaline pumping, lively dancing that might leave you with sore feet, and competitions where the lambs, swine, and even goats strut their stuff. And let’s not forget the mutton bustin’, greased pig contest, and Little Miss Marcus, just to name a few of the many events that happen at the fair. Plus, the vibrant parades, beautiful flowers, fresh veggies, unique crafts, and so much more—it’s a weekend packed with fun!
It’s where old friends catch up, families reconnect, and we all share memories of the good times and those we miss. No matter how long you’ve been away, coming back to the Marcus Fair always feels like coming home—just with more excitement and fewer chores.
We’re super lucky to have this awesome event every year. A big shout-out to everyone who works hard to make it all happen. We couldn’t do it without you—and we really wouldn’t want to!
