Akron-Westfield Westerners field a powerhouse softball team nearly every year. At Cleghorn on Wednesday June 12, the Royals’ bats sparked a little life for a few scores. AW claimed the win with consistent scoring 7-2.
Kaleigh Gravenish, senior owned the mound for 4 innings, facing 21 batters. She allowed 3 hits and 3 runs from her effort and a single strikeout. Freshman Chloe Alesch threw for 1.2 innings marking 2 Ks and 1 run. Junior Isabelle Richardson took the final 1.2 innings. She faced 8 batters. The took 3 hits, made 3 runs. Richardson sent 1 back to the dugout.
The Royals marked more errors than usual.
Junior Breanna Staab enjoyed 4 at-bats. From that she hit a .750, all 3 singles and getting a run and an RBI. Junior Cassie Weiler’s 2 at-bats scored an RBI. Isabelle Richardson, junior came home once out of her 3 at-bats, hitting 1 single.
