On Thursday, May 13, the MMCRU girls track team competed at districts. The teams participating in this event were South O’Brien, Lawton-Bronson, St. Mary’s, MMCRU, Akron-Westfield, Siouxland Christian, Whiting, Gehlen Catholic, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, Westwood, George-Little Rock, River Valley, and Trinity Christian.
The team rankings were South O’Brien in first place with 135 points, Gehlen Catholic in second with 120, Lawton-Bronson in third with 118, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in fourth with 63, St. Mary’s in fifth place with 61 points, in sixth place is Westwood with 54, Seventh place is MMCRU with 49, George-Little Rock was in eighth place with 41, Akron-Westfield in ninth place with 35. In 10th place was River Valley with 26, Siouxland Christian was in 11th place with 13, Trinity Christian in 12th place with 5, and in 13th place was Whiting with 3 points.
Every team always has that dream to go to state. For the Royals this season they ended up having three events qualifying them to go to state this year. The 4×800 team included Emily Dreckman, Taylor Harpenau, Ellie Reuter, and Hannah Neddermeyer ran 10:42.89. They received third in this event and qualified for state. Hannah Neddermeyer got second in the high jump with 4-10, qualifying her for state, and lastly Emily Dreckman got first place in the high jump with 5-00, having qualified her state as well.
Emily Dreckman talked about the track meet, “It was a fun night! I was very anxious for the meet. High jump was a lot of fun, I was able to get my personal best of 5 feet, so that was exciting! Hannah also jumped really well allowing her to make it to state too! Our 4×800 team did a great job and was enough to get us to the blue oval! It was a fun night and I’m looking forward to state!!
