“Birds of Prey”

“Birds of Prey” Flew high in “Old Central” Gym at the Plymouth County Historical Museum in Le Mars at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 29.
The public was invited to this free program in the Museum’s gym, located at 335 First Ave. SW., Le Mars.
The program is made possible with a grant given to the Museum by the Loess Hills Audubon Society.
The purpose is to allow an estimated 300 students to learn about raptors.
The Regalia International Birds of Prey of Oklahoma presented the hour-long program, which was free to the students and public, thanks to the grant. This same organization also took their show to the annual Riverssance Festival at Riverside Park in Sioux City on Saturday, Sept. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 1.
Participating Plymouth County school districts are Gehlen Catholic, Hinton Community, Kingsley-Pierson, and MMCRU of Remsen and Marcus. Students from MMCRU 7th grade enjoyed the presentation. The 7th graders learned about the history and importance of Birds of Prey in our environment. Birds presented were Falcons, Owls, Hawks and Eagles. A very special owl at the presentation is a great nephew of one of the owl’s from the Harry Potter movies. Huge thank you to Judy Bowman and the Loess Hills Audubon society for inviting us.
