Personal Mention
Faith Specht’s funeral was on Monday (June 26) at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Cummings officiating. As was expected, the service was well attended. Faith had left some things for her family to do—like making sure the jam she had made and froze got to the ladies she played cards with as she had forgotten to give it to them; make sure the recycling can got set out; the quilt for a family reunion in August got to them that she had made and reminded them that there was a quilt she had made for her casket and where it was in the house.
Faith loved her church and gave her talents for music by playing piano and organ for many years. And—she had touched many people’s lives, some of who never knew her, by her mission of 100 quilts being made and sent away. I will especially miss her as she helped me with the many baby quilts that my great-grandchildren received. She didn’t want to be recognized by name but just a “friend” who had gladly helped. Faith, may you rest in peace until we meet again.
Now I see where Nancy Busch and Mike Harmon have passed away. May memories of them be of comfort to their family and friends. May they rest in peace until we meet again.
Monday (June 26) was the day Faith Lutheran Church began delivering Meals on Wheels. We wanted to go to Faith’s funeral and couldn’t do both. I want to thank whoever delivered the meals for us that day. It was appreciated.
We were delivering Meals on Wheels on Friday in the south side of town. It was only sprinkling but as we got closer to Main Street, there were puddles of water. That part of town got rain where the south side didn’t—sounds kind of strange, doesn’t it?

I cannot say enough of how a card or a phone call can make a person’s day. I was so glad that my sister, Jeanette was the recipient of many birthday cards/calls. Her cards were looked over and over again. My Grandma Juhl always kept her cards standing upright on a small table until the next occasion came and then they were replaced by the newest cards. Anyone that came to visit were made aware of her cards!
Because I have to get articles in early due to the 4th of July, I am going to cut the Personals short in order to get the other articles in.
Remember in your thoughts and prayers those families/friends that have lost loved ones to death; have had their lives changed, have health problems some of which are terminal; are still struggling to make ends meet even though they have a job; and help those who desire “wants” are more important than “needs” that prestige isn’t everything and be with those who are still trying to shorten the distance between family/friends to build a bridge instead of a wall. Count your blessings!
I will close with this quote from Margaret Mead (1901-1978) American scientist: “Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.”
