By Rachael Beelner
The MMCRU boys competed at the Sioux City Relays on Saturday April 17, posting new school records and having a few people getting their personal best at this track meet.
Keegan Stevens, Eban Hicks, Kaden Neddermeyer, and Brett Staab ran a 4:00.34 to beat the school record in the distance medley. Also setting a new standard in the 4×200 was Keegan Stevens, Eban Hicks, Kaden Neddermeyer, and Gunnar Johnson with a 1:40.45. Kaden Galles ran the 3200, improving by 24 seconds and ending up with 11:08.05. Josh Wetter ran the 400 hurdles, improving by two seconds, ending up with 1:05.75.
Not only did the distance medley have a new school record, but they ended up finishing in second place. This is a great accomplishment. Members on the team were Keegan Stevens, Eban Hicks, Kaden Neddermeyer, and Brett Staab with 4:00.34.
Mr. Youde talked about the meet and how it went, “I had a great day at the Sioux City Relays. We had 12 guys qualify for events. Of the 12 that made the trip, nine of them ran a personal best time and/or split for the season. That was highlighted by Kaden Galles running a personal best time in the 3200. He beat his previous best time by 24 seconds. Our 4×200 set a new school record by 1/10 second. Our Distance Medley also set a school record by almost two seconds and won second place in the C division. It is truly awesome to watch our guys continue to compete at a high level. Each meet we continue to improve and Sioux City Relays was a great place to see the improvement. I look forward to seeing where the rest of the season takes us. Go Royals!”
