Girls District Bowling

The MMCRU, Remsen St. Mary’s, and Cherokee district girls bowling meet was held in Lemars at Sweet 16 Lanes, on February 13, 2023. The girls varsity team fought to the very end, but fell just 7 pins short of a berth to the state tournament. Le Mars’ girls won the district tournament, scoring over 3200. The fight for 2nd place and a state berth was tight all through the 15 baker games, but Lewis Central was able to come from behind to earn a chance to defend their state title, defeating both MMCRU-RSM-Cherokee and Fort Dodge. The following are scores for all schools:
Le Mars- 3200
Lewis Central- 2725
MMCRU-RSM-Cherokee- 2718
Fort Dodge- 2545
District girls individual games were also held at the same time. In the individual games, multiple girls were in the mix to qualify for the state tournament, but fell just short in the final game. We were led by Olivia Flewelling (534) and Taytem Pedersen (532). The top 8 individuals, from competing schools, at the meet qualified for state with the 8th place contender finishing with a 560.
Coach Timmy Jones says, “While I’m heartbroken with how the year finished, I’m extremely proud of how these girls fought today. Had one or two shots gone our way, it’d be a different story.
