The MMCRU FFA Chapter competed in the annual Iowa FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event held at Kirkwood Community College on June 14, 2022. Members of the 6th place team included: Emma Vasher, Kaden Neddermeyer, and Sophie Hohbach. Kaden Neddermeyer placed 5th Individual Overall in the competition. FFA teams from 18 chapters including 63 individuals participated in this year’s Career Development Event designed to provide students an opportunity to display their agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of Nursery/Landscape. The event consisted of a general knowledge exam, a landscape estimation practicum, identification of nursery materials (plants, disorders, equipment and supplies), equipment operations practicums, and a team skills challenge.
The Iowa FFA Nursery Landscape Career Development Event was coordinated and conducted by Shawna Moss and the faculty and staff at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Kirkwood Community College also provided a lunch to all participants. The Iowa FFA Nursery Landscape Career Development Event was made possible with support from the Wapello FFA Chapter and the Iowa FFA Foundation Gold Standard Donors.
