Lady Royals Win Preseason Scrimmage at West Monona

By Michael Rupp
MMCRU traveled south to West Monona High School in Owana on November 22 to face off in a Preseason Pride Scrimmage. The game was meant to not only prepare both teams for the regular season, but also to benefit the community. Both schools pledged to perform any act of community service in order to play.
The Royals came out strong on the road. Senior Emily Dreckman says, “We were able to try some new things during the scrimmage and also figure out what we need to improve on before games begin.” At halftime the Royals led 30-19.
“Our defense has been something we have focused on a lot,” says Dreckman. “We’re making sure that we communicate well and do the little things correctly, and we hope that leads to success this year.”
The Royals would allow West Monona’s offense to get rolling a bit more in the 2nd half, but the Royals protected their lead and won the game 62-45.
“Offensively we have many different scoring options and plays that will be very beneficial throughout the season,” says Dreckman. “ I’m excited for games to start and get the season going!”
