Cherokee County Board of Supervisors Meeting
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 with Bryan Petersen, Cheryl Ellis, Dave Skou and Shane Bellefy present. Ray Mullins II was unable to be in attendance. There were no representatives from the press. Tony Puffett, Chuck Stubbe, Kelly Puhrmann, Justin Pritts, Derek Scott, Sam Boothby, Jodi Mongan and Stu Hogg were also in attendance. Unless otherwise indicated, all votes were offered as follows: Ayes – Ellis, Bellefy, Skou, Petersen; Nayes – none; Abstentions – none.
Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion by Skou, seconded by Ellis to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Bellefy, seconded by Skou to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried.
Motion by Ellis, seconded by Skou to approve the claims for payment as presented. Motion carried. A complete listing is available for review in the County Auditor’s office.

Lonnie Benson, Benson Sanitation, asked to be considered for county business accounts and will provide bids to county departments.
Derek Scott, County Sheriff, presented a wage authorization for consideration.
Motion by Skou, seconded by Ellis to approve a $30.00 per hour wage authorization for Isaiah Isaacs, Part-Time Deputy, effective January 27, 2026. Motion carried.
Stu Hogg, IT Director, reviewed his 2026/2027 proposed budget.
Ryan Kolpin, County Attorney, presented highlights of his proposed 2026/2027 budget.
Kris Glienke, County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, reviewed line items in her proposed 2026/2027 budget.
Sam Boothby, County Recorder, presented a revenue report for consideration.
Motion by Ellis, seconded by Skou to approve the County Recorder’s $102,460.66 December 31, 2025 Quarterly Revenue Report with $31,169.75 retained by the county. Motion carried.
Boothby presented highlights of her proposed 2026/2027 budget.
A draft copy of the Cherokee County Personnel Policy was reviewed and revisions will be sent back to the HR Attorney. No action was taken.
The supervisors provided committee reports and discussed meeting schedules.
Review of the 2026/2027 budget continued.
There being no further business, Chairman Petersen called for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Motion by Bellefy, seconded by Ellis to adjourn the meeting at 11:42 a.m.
