South O’Brien boys held their visitors to single-digit scoring in each of the four quarters. Game final hit 63-27. Leading scorers for the Warriors were junior Austin Droegmiller with 8 points. He was followed by Camden Reinert, senior with 6 points, hitting 2 of 5 from outside and Gabe Olsen, senior with 4 points. Senior Sam Sennert and Droegmiller grabbed 5 boards each. Olsen grabbed 4 boards. Droegmiller and Olsen each booked a steal.
Senior Jaden Kreber topped the Wolverine scoreboard with 15 points, 8 boards with 2 offensive and 3 steals. Senior Brody Van Beek hit 12 points, 4 boards with 2 offensive and senior Brady Riedemann scored 10. Senior Brennan Billick pulled down 4 boards with 3 second chances and a steal.
Wolverine Girls Win at Home Over Alta-Arelia Warriors

The Wolverines defense goose-egged the visiting Alta-Aurelia Warriors Saturday January 24. The Warriors shook it off in the second period of play and started the competition, although the were never able to recover the 17 point deficit. Game final was 61-40.
The Warriors’ senior Kadence Langschwager led all scoring Saturday with 21 points. She also grabbed 2 rebounds at each basket and added 2 steals. Senior Hayden Berkland scored 8 points and rebounded 10. She stole 4 and blocked 1. Amarie Olsen, freshman, contributed 5 oints. Sophomore Quimby Kies grabbed 4 rebounds.
Wolverine junior Abby Woodall scored 15 points during this game. Senior Lindsey Einck added 11 points and pulled down an impressive 14 rebounds with 4 offensive. Senior Reese Farquhar scored 10 with 9 rebounds. Junior BreLee Rasmussen boarded 12 with 4 offensive rebounds.
Wolverines Defeat Trinity Christian Tiger

The game Tuesday January 27 at Paullina let the host team a cruise to a win. First half scoring put the teams at 43-20. Second half scoring was low ending the game at 63-25.
Tiger senior Luke De Jong topped the scoreboard with 13 points. He also boarded 6 and blocked 1. Freshman Tyler DeBoer and junior Tyce klein both scored 5 points. Senior James Postma boarded 6 with 1 reshot and a block. Junior Brendan Van Maanen boarded 3 with 2 at the Tigers basket.
Senior Jaden Kreber hit 6 of 11 field goals for 17 points. He also grabed 5 misses with 2 going right back up. Defensively he added 4 steals. Senior Brady Riedemann scored 10 with 3 outside baskets. Senior Alex Griebel scored 9 points from outside. Senior Brennan Billick pulled down 5 boards with 1 offensive and a steal. Senior Brody Van Beek took down misses, 4 with 2 at the scoring basket and 3 steals.
Generals Outscored at Home

A successful trip to Sibley to face the Sibley-Ocheyedan gave the Wolverines a good victory. They opened the game with a 22-8 first period. But tha tdid not set the tone of the game. Remaining markers gave the players a workout. Second period scoring moved the Generals a little closer with a 10-8 quarter. Halftime score was 30-18 in favor of the visiting Wolverines. The teams tied the third period scoring with 12 each. The Wolverines just edged the Generals in the final 14-11. Game final was 56-41. The Generals leave the game with a 12-7 record and the Wolverines moved to 13-5.
S-O leading scorer was junior Alex Kruger with 11 point. Nine of those points scored from outside. Kruger also pulled down 5 boards, blocked 2 and stole 1. Senior Dawson Kreykes hit for 8 points with 2 from outside. He also topped the possession battle. He booked 6 boards, 3 at each end and 2 steals. Senior Carter Vos scored 7. Senior Gavin Stanton baorded 5.
Senior Gabe Moermond’s 16 points led the Wolverines. He also took down 4 misses and 2 steals. Senior Jaden Kreber was busy. He scored 13 points, grabbed 6 boards, a blocked shot and 4 steals. Senior Brady Riedemann scored 11. Senior Brody Van Beek topped the possession charts. His presence under the Wolverine basket was powerful. Out of his 7 rebounds 6 went back up for the Wolverines. He also took 4 steals.
Mustangs Leave Paullina with a Loss

The opening period of Friday night’s War Eagle Conference game at Paullina looked like it was gonna be a game. The buzzer set a 14-11 point Wolverine lead. The rest of the game was different. The Mustangs didn’t break double digits again. Game final was 63-29.
Leading Wolverine scorers were Jaden Kreber, 23; Gabe Moermond and Brady Riedemann, 13 each. George-Little Rock scoring was led by Cash Sandbulte with 17. No other stats are available at press time.
Wolverines Battled to a Win

South O’Brien hosted the Trinity Christian Tigers on Tuesday January 27. The Tigers came out for a win, leading 15-12 at the first buzzer. The Wolverines, however, weren’t having it. They outscored their competitors in the second stanza 11-3 taking the halftime score to 23-18. The teeter-totter scoring continued into the seond half with the Tigers gaining 4 points during the third quarter taking the lead early and holding it through most of it. It was an exciting part of the game. The Wolverines took a 1-point lead at the buzzer. Third quarter score ended at Tigers 35 – Wolverines 36. The 1-point scoring difference in the final stanza went to the Wolverines giving them a 2-point victory at home, 50-48.
Trinity Christian’s sophomore Aubyn Boogerd scored 14 with 9 of her points from downtown. She led scoring for her team. She also tookdown 6 rebounds with 2 offensive and a blocked shot. Keely Groeneweg, junior hit 11 points, also 9 from downtown. Junior Ali Van Der Brink scored 6, also all from downtown.
Junior Kierra Heynen took possession seriously. She grabbed 7 boards with 1 offensive and 3 steals. Whitney Westra, sophomore boarded 3 at each end and 2 blocked shots.
Wolverine senior Reese Farquhar led scoring with 21 points including 9 points from outside. She rebounded 7 with 1 at the Wolverine basket and a steal. Senior Addison Hedberg put in 7 points with 6 of them from outside the circle. Junior BreLee Rasmussen scored 9 and rebounded 3. She blocked 2 and stole 2.
Generals Eek a Win Over Wolverines

The Wolverines played tough basketball last week with a split in the results. At Sibley on Thursday January 29 the win went to the Sibley-Ocheyeday Generals.
First half scoring was knotted all the way, 14 points for both teams in the fist and 17 points for both teams in the second. Small scoring edges in the second half show as benefitting the Generals. Quarter scoring and final score on “Bound” do not match. Quarter scores give the Generals a 5-point win, final give them a 3-point win. No matter, it was an exciting game with heartbreak for the Wolverines.
Lucy Heitritter, freshman for S-O led Generals’ scoring with 17 points, 12 from outside. Sophomore Hailey Gacke added 8 points and senior Hadley Crichton also scored 8 with support under the basket with 5 boards and 3 blocked shots. Senior Becca Woelver and freshman Gracie Odens both pulled down 4 boards. Woelber took 3 steals.
Wolverines scoring was led by senior Lindsey Einck with 19 points; junior Abby Woodall with 13 and senior Reese Farquhar adding 10. Einck plled down 11 rebounds with 4 offensive. She grabbed 2 steals. Junior BreLee Rasmussen took down 4 steals and blocked 1. Farquhar owned 5 rebounds.
Wolverines Hosted George-Little Rock
Friday night conference basketball was played at Paullina with the Wolverines hosting the Mustangs. A couple of cold quarters for the Wolverines defined the outcome. The final period of play saw the Wolveirnes progress to closing the score deficit, which was at its biggest spread just before the end of the third. The effort fell short and the Wolverines fell 30-47. No Wolverine stats are available at press time.
The Mustangs’ senior Nevaeh Feucht topped scoring with 17 points. Senior Lindsey Haken also scored 17 while also boarding 15 misses including 4 offensive. Her defense added 2 blocked shots and 4 steals. Sophomore Danyka Gisolf contributed 9 points for the Mustangs. She pulled 5 boards, 3 from the Mustangs misses and a steal. Sophomore Grace Ubbinga boarded 9 including 3 under the Mustangs’ basket. She blocked 2 and stole 1.
