MMCRU Insider Stories
Teacher Spotlight
By MMCRU Communications
Kendra Knapp is the science teacher at MMCRU High School. She was encouraged to become a teacher because of her father because he is her biggest inspiration. She is motivated by the smiles and stories she shares with her students. Knapp’s favorite class to teach is chemistry because “it’s fun to watch problems click for students when they are doing things like chemical reactions.” Knapp’s favorite memory from teaching was wearing her t-shirt surrounded by students and staff members, who were also wearing the t-shirt. She feels very lucky to have a great support system at school!
Heap of the Week
By MMCRU Communications
The heap of the week’s owner is Caiden Van Ipren. He drives a 2013 Ram 1500 and has owned this truck for 2-3 years. It has roughly 150,000 miles on the dash. The longest trip he’s driven his pickup on was from his house to Sioux City. Van Ipren’s favorite memory was going to pick it up for the first time. His least favorite memory was when his truck’s valve spring went out.
Dome Dress-Up Days
By MMCRU Communications
MMCRU celebrated the game at the dome with school dress up days throughout the school week. Monday was “dress like a baller,” students were to wear their favorite jersey to school. On Tuesday, the theme was USA, students were supposed to wear red, white, and blue. Wednesday was “show your royal pride” and wear Royal Gear. Thursday was the big game at the Cedar Falls UNI-Dome, the theme was “Black Out.” Friday, students were encouraged to wear royal gear again! This was the first time in school history that we have made it this far in MMCRU Football. We are looking forward to next week and playing in the championship game.
Meet the Animals
By MMCRU Communications
The MMCRU High School Ag class has many animals that they are tending to. These animals include; broiler chickens, pigs, and a mini cow. The boiler chickens were hatched in the classroom and will be processed for their final in meat science class. They currently have four pigs separated with two in one pen and two in another. They are feeding one group show feed and the other to commercial feed, weighing them each week. Montana, the cow, will be bred eventually when she is ready.
