Mrs. Jen Nieuwenhuis is one of the third grade teachers at MMCRU Marcus Elementary. With the help of parents and some community members, her class posted on Facebook that they wanted to receive a valentine from each state. They ended up receiving a valentine from all 50 states, and a few countries too. All of the valentines had something interesting about them, but her class really enjoyed getting “BigFoot Poop” (marshmallows covered in chocolate) from Oregon. This valentine also sent a guide to finding BigFoot! When asked where the furthest place they received a valentine from, Nieuwenhuis replied, “Australia!” Another interesting valentine was from an air force base. This will definitely be a yearly project! The kids, parents, school staff, friends, and family all got involved and were invested throughout the whole project!
