Police Officer Jackie Stephens & K9 Partner Vulcan Place 1st Overall at Police Dog Trials

August 26th – 27th Marcus Police Department Officer Jackie Stephens and her K9 partner Vulcan attended the United States Police Canine Association’s Patrol Dog trials and Certification.
During the trials, Stephens and Vulcan participated in several events including obedience, suspect search, evidence search, criminal apprehension (AKA bite work) and criminal apprehension with gun fire.
During trials Stephens and Vulcan not only again re-certified as a K9 team but judges also scored them among the best! This year’s attendance had 42 K9 teams from across Iowa and Minnesota competing in the trials with Stephens and Vulcan coming in 1st place over all! They also received honors as being members of the team that took home 1st place in the team competition! These accomplishments also earned Stephens and Vulcan a spot at Nationals this October in Baton Rouge, LA.
At this time, we would also like to acknowledge and thank those that have donated to the Marcus Police Department’s ongoing K9 fundraiser. Your donations have not only allowed us to bring a K9 team to the Police Department, but they also provide the opportunity to obtain equipment, train, certify, and travel to these trials.
