Luxembourg Meeting
Welcoming a special visitor from Luxembourg will be one of the topics at the meeting of the Luxembourg Heritage Society of Northwest Iowa on Saturday, July 13, at 9:30 a.m. in the meeting room of the Remsen Public Library.
An upcoming August visit by Marc Zimer of Luxembourg will be discussed. Zimer is coordinating the high school student exchange between Remsen and Luxembourg students. Various meetings and a get together will be planned. Other topics will include plans for Oktoberfest, and ways to promote Luxembourg traditions and heritage in the northwest Iowa area.. This year will be the 50th anniversary of the traditional Remsen celebration that promotes the town’s Luxembourg and German roots.
Judy Stokesberry will report on sessions she attended at the Preserve Iowa Summit, where she picked up new information on the National Register of Historic Places, and on possible ways to find more information on the St. Donatus cemetery site.
Everyone is welcome at the meeting, whether or not of Luxembourg ancestry. Snacks will be served.
