Westerners Run Over Royals

Wednesday June 12 at Marcus was not the Royals’ best evening on the diamond. MMCRU scored first in the first. Akron-Westfield followed suit in the second. At the end of three innings it was still a new game, tied at 3 each. AW was on fire for its 6th inning at-bat. The team scored a remarkable 11 runs to host Royals’ 1 run. The 7th inning was scoreless giving AW a 14-4 victory and a season record of 14-1. MMCRU fell to 8-5.
The game saw a lot of pitchers. AW senior Ashton McCully threw 3 innings. He was backed up by sophomore Nathan Gaswint who threw 2 1 / 3 innings and earning the win. Junior Jackson Neubrand took the mound for 2 / 3 innings.
MMCRU also saw 3 pitchers. Senior Michael Schnepf faced 28 batters in 5 innings. He was given the loss. Also spending time for the last outfield inning on the mound were juniors Lucas Braun and Michael Petersen.
Gage Johnson, Parker Glassmaker, Xander Tentinger and Brandon Dreckman were the scorers for MMCRU.
