MMCRU Defeats West Sioux

MMCRU soft ball traveled to Hawarden to face the Falcons of West Sioux. It was the home team that got on the scoreboard early with a single run in the first. The Falcons added another single run in the 7th.
The Royals scored a single run in each of the 3rd, 4th and 6th innings. The 5th inning was big for the Royals. They knocked in 5 scores. The game ended in their favor 8-2. The Falcons remained winless. MMCRU took a 5-7 record.
The Royals faced sophomore pitcher Elsie Westergard. She threw for all 6 innings.
Junior Cassie Weiler pitched a single inning for the Royals. She struck out 1 batter of the 5 she faced and gave up a single run. Kaleigh Gravenish took the mound for 6 innings. She faced 24 batters, giving up 4 runs. She sent 7 back to the dugout.
Scorer Gracie Schroeder, freshman came home once on her only hit, a single. She went 1 for 3. Senior Mykin Youde had 2 at-bats,netting a single and a score. Tia Tentinger, freshman, hit a .333. She hit a double on her only hit from her 3 at-bats. She scored one run. Freshman Chloe Alesch batted .1000 with her single from her only at-bat that led to a Royals run. Eighth grader Hailey Staab ran in twice.
