MMCRU Music Fine Arts Night

The evening opened with a choir performance of “Calypso Gloria” by Emily Crocker. The Mixed Select Choir performed “Come to the Music” by Joseph M. Martin.
The SSA Choir sang two numbers, “Gloria Deo” by Victor Johnson and “Lakeside Lullaby” by Jacob Narverud. The Choir is directed by Breeana De Vos. Valerie Kaat accompanied select pieces.
The “G-sharps,” a small performance choir of MMCRU also performed two numbers: “Wade in the Water” by Dan Davison and “Ad Astra” by Jacob Narverud. Members of “the G-sharps are Elspeth Hogg, Ashley Hurtado, Brea Nicks, Deanna Partridge, Hope Russell, Autumn Sanow, Caitlin Wetter, Mykin Youde and Jadyn Young-Kruse.
The 9-12 band took their seats for four pieces: “Moscow 1941,” by Brian Balmages, a favorite of Band Director Emma Davis; “Benediction” by John Stevens, “Irish Tune from County Derry” by Percy Grainger and “Quad City Stomp” by Michael Sweeney.
The musical entertainment and talent showcasing was followed by awarding letters and special recognition of the students.
Solo/Ensesmble Contest participants were Allison Astidias, Flued; Ashley Hurtado, Flute; Hayden Oswald, flute; Annika Juhl, clarinet and Hope Russell, trumpet. Choir members were Allison Astidias, Elspeth Hogg, Ashley Hurtado, Brea Nicks, Hayden Oswald, Deanna Partridge, Hope Russell, Autumn Sanow, Caitlin Watter, Mykin Youde and Jadyn Young-Kruse.
Performers selected to the Northwest Iowa Choir Director’s Association Honor Choir were Allison Astidias, Heino JVR, Ally Olson, Hayden Oswald and Autumn Sanow.
