Cherokee County Board of Supervisors Meeting
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 with Rick Mongan, Bryan Petersen, Duane Mummert, Cheryl Ellis and Dave Skou present. Erin Rydgren, Chronicle Times, represented the press. Sarah Tracy, Kelly Puhrmann and Kenny Schlenger were also in attendance. Unless otherwise indicated, all votes were offered as follows: Ayes – Petersen, Ellis, Mummert, Skou, Mongan; Nayes – none; Abstentions – none.
Chairman Mongan called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion by Skou, seconded by Mummert to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Petersen, seconded by Ellis to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Skou to approve the claims for payment as presented. Motion carried. A complete listing is available for review in the County Auditor’s office and online.

There were no comments from the public.
Sarah Tracy, County Engineer, reported that construction projects from last year have been completed and meetings will be scheduled over the next two weeks to finalize right of way easements with land owners along F Avenue.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Skou to approve Resolution #2024-04 accepting a $919,921.77 bid from Graves Construction Co. for the bridge replacement project #BROS-CO18(93)–5F-18 (Pitcher 047) on 590th Street over the Maple River and to delegate contract signing authority to Sarah Tracy, County Engineer. Roll call vote: Petersen-aye, Ellis-aye, Mummert-aye, Skou-aye, Mongan-aye. Motion carried and resolution adopted.
Motion by Petersen, seconded by Mummert to approve a $21.50 per hour wage authorization or Jim Leonard, Temporary Seasonal General Labor, effective June 1, 2024. Motion carried.
Shane Tymkowicz, IDOT Assistant District Engineer, presented drawings and discussed 2026 construction schedules for the proposed roundabout at the intersection of Iowa Highway 3 and Iowa Highway 143 in Marcus.
The supervisors provided committee reports and reviewed meeting schedules.
There being no further business, Chairman Mongan called for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Skou to adjourn the meeting at 9:42 a.m.
