The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 with Rick Mongan, Bryan Petersen, Cheryl Ellis, Duane Mummert and Dave Skou present. Erin Rydgren, Chronicle Times, represented the press. Gary Lundquist, Derek Scott, Russ Hansen, Matt Dreckman, Mike Scholten, Kelly Puhrmann, Sarah Tracy, Kari Lundy, Sam Boothby, Kenny Schlenger, Justin Pritts, Joel Ehrig, Stu Hogg, and Laura Jones were also in attendance. Unless otherwise indicated, all votes were offered as follows: Ayes – Petersen, Ellis, Mummert, Skou, Mongan; Nayes – none; Abstentions – none.
hairman Mongan called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion by Petersen, seconded by Ellis to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried.

There were no comments from the public.
Russ Hansen, Marcus Fire and Rescue Department, provided details of the department’s annual fire and ambulance calls with 175 responses and 3412 total on-duty hours for their 30 member unit. The supervisors thanked the Marcus Fire Department for their commitment to providing vital services to residents and applauded them for their professional administration of the volunteer department.
Derek Scott, County Sheriff, presented information about an Emergency Medical Dispatch program and requested $8,179.80 of funding assistance. After discussion, the request was tabled until it is determined if the cost can be absorbed in the Sheriff’s current budget.
Dakin Schultz, IDOT Transportation Planner, and Shane Tymkowicz, Assistant District Engineer, gave an informative presentation about the Iowa Highway 3 Little Sioux Bridge Replacement Project which is scheduled for construction in 2026.
Committee reports and meeting schedules were provided by each of the supervisors.
Department budgets were presented by Sam Boothby, Recorder; Laura Jones, Conservation; and Sarah Tracy, Engineer.
There being no further business, Chairman Mongan called for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Motion by Mummert, seconded by Skou to adjourn the meeting at 10:16 a.m.
