IA- MMCRU Elementary has been under construction since last year, but construction is completed and all teachers have been moved to the new building. The old building is set to become the new parking lot and bus drop-off area. With the new building, the rooms are no longer in linear rows but designed around a “neighborhood” concept. Rooms are sectioned out by grade and each section has their own area with a “Maker Space” at the center. These “Maker Space” areas are for art, science, and tech-minded students to build, create, or experiment. The beauty of these neighborhoods is the spaces allow students to collaborate in group projects, work independently, or enjoy the quiet zones for study.
With the building completed and fully furnished, MMCRU welcomes the public to come visit and view the new furniture and neighborhoods. Locals will be able to visit the building during the Elementary Open House on Feb 2nd. MMCRU will also have a fundraising event for the new playground, a free-will donation supper, and a silent auction at that time.
