NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PROPOSED VACATION OF THE PORTION OF 480th STREET BETWEEN E AVENUE AND F AVENUE
Public notice is hereby given that a proposal has been made to vacate and close the portion of 480th Street between E Avenue and F Avenue in Cherokee County, Iowa. The section of 480th Street to be vacated and closed is described as follows:
An east-west portion of 480th Street located between E Avenue and F Avenue, a portion of which commencing at the point of the Point of the Beginning Exception “A” as demonstrated on the Survey Plat recorded on February 15, 2008 in Book 2008, Page 0310, thence continuing 123.32 feet along the southwestern line of Exception “A”, then continuing 1,173.70 feet along the southern line of a parcel of land described as Parcel A being part of the West Half of the Southwest Quarter (W ½ SW ¼) of Section Thirty-Five (35), Township Ninety-Three (93) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing 1,337.90 feet along the southern line of a parcel of land described as the East Half of the Southwest Quarter (E ½ SW ¼) of Section Thirty-Five (35), Township Ninety-Three (93) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing 1,325 feet along the southern line of a parcel of land described as the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (SW ¼ SE ¼) of Section Thirty-Five (35), Township Ninety-Three (93) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing 1,273 feet to a point along the southern line of a parcel of land described as the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter (SE ¼ SE ¼) of Section Thirty-Five (35), Township Ninety-Three (93) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing 123.50 feet southwardly, thence continuing westwardly 3,138 feet on the northern line of the North half of Section Two (2), Township Ninety-Two (92) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing southwesterly along the northern line of the North half of Section Two (2), Township Ninety-Two (92) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing westwardly 98.12 feet along the northern line of the North half of Section Two (2), Township Ninety-Two (92) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing 60.74 feet northeasterly on the northern line of the North half of Section Two (2), Township Ninety-Two (92) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing 1,889.8 feet to a point along the northern line of the North half of Section Two (2), Township Ninety-Two (92) North, Range Forty-Two (42), West of the 5th P.M., thence continuing 95.92 feet northernly to the Point of the Beginning Exception “A”, all within Cherokee County, Iowa.
A hearing will be held by the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors on November 21, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., in the Board Room at the Lower Level of the Cherokee County Courthouse, 520 West Main Street, Cherokee, Iowa 51012. Any person owning land abutting on the road proposed to be vacated and closed shall have the right to file, in writing, a claim for damages at any time on or before the date and time fixed for the hearing.
