Thursday night (June 8) it was back to the Marcus Public Library again! This time we were outside where the weather cooperated with sunshine and a slight breeze. The Garden Club ladies were on hand to help kids pot a flower plant to take to the Marcus Fair in August.
On the ground, under the shade of a tree, the ladies waited for the kids. There were 27 kids that signed up for this “potting a plant”. There was a table with all kinds of plants to choose from to create the kid’s pot. The variety of flowers consisted of Dianthus, Marigolds, Silver Duse (Dusty Miller), Begonia, Celosia, Vinca, Double Petunia, and Salvia as well as many decorative leafy plants as fillers.
I was there just before 5 p.m. and there were quite a few kids that were coming in the next hour. There was a good turnout for this project.
Garden Club members are Paula Nelson, Rose Ohlendorf, Robin Corzillius, Sue Dentlinger, Vickie Rainboth, Tracey Loutsch, Kim Ames, and Deb Galles. The girl in the picture was one that had already got her flower pot. (If there are others in the Garden Club, they were not present to help.)
Thank you, women of the Garden Club for helping with this project!
