Ag Safety Day

Tuesday May 2nd, the MMCRU FFA and agriculture classes hosted an ag safety day for both Marcus and Remsen Elementary classes. FFA Committee members Sophie Hohbach, Emma Vasher & Mason Peters organized seven different stations to have the kids go through at the Marcus Fairgrounds. There were soil cup snacks, the Hohbach’s gravity wagon basketball game as the game, the Industrial Tech’s tractor to learn about parts and safety, a UTV and a mower, the Marcus and Remsen fire departments to talk to the kids about grain bin safety, Tim Smith brought a done to teach the kids what they are doing around here, and FFA members brought in a calf and two lambs to learn about the animals. In total, 350 kids passed through stations and were given safety instructions to be more aware as they visit a farm or surrounding area. With Marcus in the morning and Remsen in the afternoon, the day was filled with lots of learning and fun! “Thank you so much for such a wonderfully organized and planned Ag Safety Day! The high school kids really did an amazing job, and it was so worthwhile!” said Ann Barkel Marcus 2nd grade teacher. Thank you to Marcus and Remsen Fire station, Tim Smith, and Iowa State Bank for helping the FFA put on a successful Day.
