Lifeline Assistance Available for Low Income Residents
The Lifeline Assistance Program makes residential telephone or broadband internet access service more affordable for qualifying low-income households throughout Iowa. Qualifying low-income households receive reduced charges on their monthly bill.
To qualify for Lifeline Assistance, applicants must receive assistance from at least one of the following programs:
Medicaid (e.g. Title XIX/Medical, State Supplemental Assistance)
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8)
Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit Program
Income at or below 135 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
Lifeline is a government assistance program, the service is non-transferable, only eligible consumers may enroll in the program, and the program is limited to one discount per household.
