Upcoming Master Gardener Webinars Focus on Fall Activities
Local Master Gardeners and Horticulture enthusiasts are invited to attend one or both Fall Master Gardener live webinar showings at the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Cherokee County office located at 209 Centennial Drive in Cherokee.
Both programs are Autumn focused, free and open to the public.
The first webinar, “Spooky Plants,” will be hosted Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Extension office in Cherokee. In the true spirit of Halloween, this webinar will introduce attendees to some spooky, stinky, and downright strange plants. Dr. Cindy Haynes, ISU Professor of Horticulture, will share a variety of flora, including the Eyeball Plant, Corpse Flower, Venus Flytrap, and more. The program is free, but participants are asked to preregister to Jen at 712-225-6196 by noon on Oct. 26.
The second webinar, “Prairie Seed Harvest,” will instruct participants in how to harvest and grow native seeds. The webinar will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Extension office in Cherokee. Iowa DNR Prairie Resource Center Biologist Bill Johnson will discuss the basics of harvesting, preparing, and storing native grasses, sedges, and wildflower seeds. The program is free, but participants are asked to preregister to Jen at 712-225-6196 by noon on Nov. 9.
Again, both webinar showings are free and open to the public; but preregistration is requested by noon on the date of the showing.
