(AMES, Iowa) July 19, 2022 – As part of its ongoing commitment to invest in local community_improvement efforts, Summit Carbon Solutions today donated $5,000 to the Marcus Trail Project in Marcus, Iowa.
The donation was made during a check presentation. Phase One of the project will add 1.4 miles of paved trails connecting residents to the city’s amenities. Construction on this phase is expected to start in 2024.
“Summit Carbon Solutions is pleased to donate $5,000 to the Marcus Trail Project to help build a trail system that will connect the entire community,” said Jake Ketzner, vice president of government affairs. “Summit Carbon Solutions is committed to investing in local organizations and enhancing the quality of life in the communities where our project is proposed to operate.”
“I’m thrilled that we could support this terrific project for the Marcus community. There is a lack of sidewalks currently in the town of Marcus and not all of them are in great condition,” Kaitlin Letsche, with the Marcus Trail Project. “Through a mix of public and private funding, residents will be able to use a new trail to get through town to access the parks, pool, school, and fairgrounds which provides a safer alternative than using the streets. Subsequent phases will expand to a larger area, linking additional amenities including the nursing home and golf course.”
The City of Marcus is in Cherokee County, Iowa. The county is estimated to receive more than $2 million in new property taxes when Summit’s proposed project is operational.
