It was at the January 2022 MMC School Board meeting that there were two teachers, Laurie Lamb, 3rd grade teacher at RU Elementary and Julie Letsche, 1st grade teacher at MMC Elementary who had sent in their resignations to retire.
Julie Letsche’s letter was quite interesting as to a summary of her 37 years of teaching. She stated that teaching had been her calling and passion. She has taught hundreds of students, worked under 15 administrators, and taught in 5 different classrooms all at the Marcus Primary building.
Her retirement party was held May 24 from 4-6 p.m. in the Marcus Commons and Laurie Lamb’s was at that time in Middle School Media Center.
Julie had long tables with all her 37 years on them! She had pictures of the classes she taught as well as interesting news articles. The tables we sat at had “messages” from her students and others. There were messages along the wall as well. The kids will be missing her but each wished her the best.
Julie has said she would work with student teachers as well as substituting if needed. Enjoy your retirement you deserve it!
